Picked this up to do AN/JIC fittings for the hard fuel lines for my new motor. It works well for aluminum and I also tried it on some cunifer brake line and it worked well, but it didn't work very well on steal or hard stainless lines. I just couldn't get it to grip tight enough to hold the line in place without ruining the line or splitting the flare, even with a healthy amount of oil. Save for a better tool if you are planning to do harder materials.
I purchased this flairing tool to finish a RV-6 project. I have used several other flairing tools from friends over the years and found this one to work every bit as good as some of the more expensive units. Like many of the flairing tools available, it tends to leave some groove marks in the tube where it clamps onto the tube. Some light sanding or on the grooves to smooth them out a little works great. I would recommend this tool to anyone needing an aircraft flairing tool.
